Am I eligible for car finance compensation?
PCP and hire purchase agreements may be covered, but a loan date and an undisclosed commission are not enough to establish entitlement. Your lender needs to assess the agreement against the scheme rules.
Start with your agreement
The FCA describes the relevant period as 6 April 2007 to 1 November 2024. Check your agreement type and start date, and identify the lender and dealer or broker. Personal contract hire (leasing) is outside this scheme.
Before estimating a figure, use our agreement details checklist to find the lender, start date, amount of credit and repayment information in your paperwork.
Check the arrangement and exclusions
The FCA identifies discretionary commission, high commission and certain contractual ties, with conditions and exceptions for each. Its guidance also explains exclusions including some low-commission, interest-free and high-value agreements, and some cases already resolved.

What if I do not know the commission?
Ask the lender what commission and arrangements applied. You can explore an estimate with this calculator, but its default assumptions do not prove that those arrangements existed.
Can I check an agreement I have paid off?
A settled agreement can still be relevant. Keep its paperwork and ask the lender to assess it; repayment alone does not answer the eligibility question.
What does a calculator result prove?
It shows a modelled amount using your inputs and assumptions. It cannot decide disclosure, all exclusions, or the facts held by your lender. Read our methodology and limitations.
